What problem does Empowered Eden strive to solve?
Single mothers face significant barriers to securing stable and affordable housing. The rising costs of rent and homeownership put safe and stable living environments out of reach for many single mothers who have limited income and resources. This financial strain is compounded by a lack of comprehensive support services tailored to their unique needs, such as education, mental health counseling, job placement, and financial literacy training. The scarcity of programs offering a results based approach leaves many single mothers without the guidance and assistance necessary to navigate these challenges.
What solution(s) is the organization providing?
At Empower Eden, we will address the pressing issue of affordable housing for single mothers by providing a comprehensive, supportive environment where they can achieve their goals and build a stable future. We will start addressing these issues by hosting self-sufficiency learning sessions once a month for 2 hours at our local library. We will provide small incentives including lunch and child watch services to support the ladies why they attend the program. These services will be paid out of pocket by Sheena, in addition to in-kind donations. Our ultimate goal once funding is secure is to offer a unique blend of housing and customized support services, empowering women to develop the skills necessary for lifelong success, regardless of their background or past experiences. We will provide safe, affordable housing specifically designed for single mothers and their children. Our housing model will include co-habituating spaces with 3-4 bedrooms, where participants can rent rooms at a discounted rate, subsidized by grants and housing assistance programs. This setup will offer immediate relief from housing instability and establishes a supportive community where single mothers can share experiences and support each other.
