This is the story of how we're making that belief a reality based in Rock Hill, we proudly provide our services across York County and nearby communities throughout South Carolina.

Empower Eden was born from a simple but powerful observation: single mothers are some of the strongest, most resilient people in our community, yet they face systemic barriers that make success unnecessarily difficult.

In Rock Hill, South Carolina, and across the nation, single mothers navigate an impossible maze. Housing costs continue to rise while wages remain stagnant. Childcare is expensive and often unavailable during the hours they need it most. Educational opportunities exist, but transportation, timing, and cost create insurmountable obstacles. Support services are scattered, confusing, and often come with stigma attached.

Our founder, Sheena, witnessed these challenges firsthand and recognized that band-aid solutions weren't enough. Temporary assistance provides momentary relief but doesn't change trajectories. What single mothers need—and deserve—is comprehensive, dignified support that addresses the interconnected nature of their challenges.

The vision for Empower Eden emerged from this understanding: What if there was a place where single mothers could access education, build community, receive practical support, and create pathways to independence—all without judgment, barriers, or time limits? What if we treated housing instability not as an individual failing but as a systemic problem requiring systemic solutions?

Starting with self-funded monthly learning sessions at the Rock Hill Public Library, Empower Eden began with a commitment to remove barriers. We provide lunch so mothers don't have to choose between eating and learning. We offer childcare so they can focus without worry. We create curriculum that's practical, relevant, and immediately applicable to their lives. Most importantly, we build community—because isolation is one of the most devastating aspects of single motherhood.

What started as a grassroots effort has grown into a movement. Each session brings more mothers, more hope, and more evidence that when we invest in women with compassion and comprehensive support, transformation is not just possible—it's inevitable.

This is just the beginning. Our vision extends beyond monthly sessions to include affordable co-living housing, expanded programming, mental health services, job placement partnerships, and a replicable model that can empower single mothers in communities beyond Rock Hill.
